Interview with Professor Sara Bernadini on BBC Business Matters
Professor Sara Bernadini, Professor of Artificial Intelligence from the Department of Computer Science at Royal Holloway University of London, featured on a BBC Business Matters episode to discuss the MIMRee project and its applications.
Sara began with an overview of the project and an illustration of how the technology will work, followed by an explanation of the benefits of inspecting offshore wind turbine structures using automated, autonomous robots, over existing human, rope-access methods.
Sara also discussed the cyber-security challenges that are associated with using autonomous vessels, elaborating on the techniques that you can implement to ensure that the collected data is securely encrypted.
The interview closed with comments surrounding the future of autonomous vessels, where Sara believes that the autonomous vessels have the potential to play a key role in making offshore missions more efficient, a lot safer, and less expensive for asset owners in the long-run.
